Captain Sandy Madiera

Role: Boston Harbor pilot boat captain
Affiliation: Boston Harbor (civilian maritime); occasional favor broker to Boston PD
Location: Boston Harbor
First Appeared: Session 02 - Telephone
Description
Appearance: Salty, weathered, unmistakably a lifer. Crazy troll-doll black hair dangling out from under an old Gorton-fisherman-style rain hat — except the hat is black instead of yellow. Full waterproof trench. High water boots. Has been at this long enough that nothing that happens on her boat is surprising to her, only annoying.
Personality: Gruff and done with you before she meets you. Cashing in favors from a career of them. Zero interest in any mystical element of Boston Harbor beyond how it affects her docking schedule. Does not want to know.
Voice / Mannerisms: Uses the Boston harbor captain's vocabulary fluently. Swears like one. Swears at O'Malley like it's a second language.
Background
Captain Sandy Madiera has been running pilot boats in Boston Harbor her entire adult life. She knows every pier, every buoy, every tugboat captain by first name. She has owed — and been owed — enough favors that when Detective O'Malley called her to retrieve six strangers and a stolen boat from Spectacle Island on twenty minutes' notice, she showed up. She made him aware, at the volume of a foghorn, that drunk fuck O'Malley owed her big.
Session 02
Arrived in her tugboat at the rotten pier on Spectacle Island to collect the party after they burned down Blount Fisheries. The Coast Guard had already left. She did not have the patience for small talk.
Pierre, at that point, was still missing his motorcycle, which had vanished from the beach.
Leonard cast Guidance on Chandler via a hypospray-like mechanical device. Chandler rolled a Deception 18 to explain that Trudy must have been on the beach and she just didn't see her. Captain Madiera accepted this.
"We're just going to put aside for a second that I just watched that young man stab you with something, and you were perfectly okay with it. Families get into some weird shit."
— Captain Sandy Madiera
Moments later Trudy emerged from the harbor with Pierre riding her, which Captain Madiera chose not to ask about.
She dropped the party at Boston Harbor at dawn with a clear message that she never wanted to see any of them again, and that tickets from Jacques were not sufficient recompense.
